Turnover jumps at construction group Sisk

The group’s profit before interest and tax increased 6pc to €28.3m.

Sisk operates largely in Ireland and the UK, where over 95pc of the it’s revenue is generated.

In Ireland, turnover increased 9pc to €748.8m.

Meanwhile in the UK, revenue jumped 60pc last year to €395m from 246.9m in 2017.

Stephen Bowcott, chief executive of Sisk, said: “It is gratifying to report another year’s strong financial and operational performance for Sisk.”

“The Irish business is well positioned for 2019 and we have a number of major projects currently underway.”

In 2016 Sisk Living was established in Ireland as the housing unit within Sisk.

Mr Bowcott said he expects the Sisk Living team – the social housing unit in Sisk - to build approximately 590 units, having recently been awarded the Social Housing Bundle 1 PPP project as a member of a consortium with Macquarie, Oaklee and Choice Housing.

The company will also deliver 1,500 additional residential units in Ireland for several other clients.

Sisk recently delivered the Capital Dock Development in Dublin, that includes Ireland’s tallest residential building.

It also led the construction of the major new spectator stand, entrance, and bars and restaurants as part of the redevelopment of the Curragh Racecourse in Kildare.

In the UK it completed a landmark restoration and construction project in the heart of central London for the Royal Academy of Arts.

Operating since 1859, today the group employs around 1,400 people.
