The Conservative Party is now on course for its worst-ever defeat. Brexit seems key to that, though in the 2019 election it almost looked like Brexit saved the party. What caused the decline in Tory fortunes might be either structural or personal. Could it be that none of this would have happened without a charismatic individual who shifted the political sands?
